Alex challenged me to write a blog about money & shame ahhhh

What’s that quote about shame festering in the shadows…? It can’t survive when brought into the light…? Brené Brown probably said something along those lines…??

Right, couldn’t find it exactly but here’s a good one (from Brené Brown’s ‘Daring Greatly’):

Shame derives its power from being unspeakable... If we cultivate enough awareness about shame to name it and speak to it, we’ve basically cut it off at the knees. Shame hates having words wrapped around it. If we speak shame, it begins to wither. Just the way exposure to light was deadly for the gremlins, language and story bring light to shame and destroy it.

Alright let’s assume she’s correct and give this a shot.

I WANT TO HEAL SHAME AROUND MONEYYYYYYYY actually shame around everything tbh. why am I carrying so much shame. WHY

Okay who cares, let’s get on with it.

Alex Large, an incredibly cool human (who wrote this thing that genuinely changed the way I approach life (Consensus-ism (part 1): The opposite of living self-coercively. Is it just me or is this like a huge deal…(it’s not just you Alex. It is a huge deal)).

So much to say on that…

ANYWAY. As I was saying, Alex Large, an incredibly cool human, COERCED me into writing this.

Just kidding.

This is what happened. Alex made a request of me, one that I fulfilled with pleasure, and in thanking me he asked whether there’s anything he can help me with.

I replied saying something along the lines of…

Okay the last bit is cut off but it says:

Alex replied saying

“What about extra spicy mode of a weekly blog about money? 👀”

SO HERE WE ARE FOLKS.

And yeah that’s why this blog exists. (Blog? substack? what do we call these things nowadays?)

Andddddd yeah I think I’m actually just going to leave it there for today. Baby steps. Don’t want to overwhelm my nervous system or whatever. Don’t want to turn this into some huge insurmountable task I have to do each week.

Just keep it simple, stupid beautiful (kiss) (kisb… you guys get that? It’s an acronym but I had to change it from kiss to kisb because I want to speak lovingly to myself and not call myself stupid. okay)

K yay!!! Bringing the shadow into the light. let’s fkn do this thing, I’m excited.
